One morning, I was cooking breakfast in my apartment. The smell of toast was in the air, and I expected it to be just another ordinary day. But then the toaster sparked, and a small fire broke out on the countertop.

Panic set in immediately. As someone whos paralyzed, I knew my limitations all too well in that critical moment. My eyes went straight to the bright red fire extinguisher on the wall.. a tool that should have been a lifeline. But its heavy weight and inaccessible design made it impossible for me to use. All I could do was watch as the fire burned. Thankfully, it went out on its own.

That day I had the realization that safety devices designed to save lives had completely excluded people like me.

And that’s why I started Adapted Safety.

At Adapted Safety, our mission is to help people with disabilities and seniors to live independently and age in place. We are committed to making sure that everyone has the safety tools they need to protect themselves or their loved ones in emergencies.
